SDSU - Native & Indigenous Graduation Medalions

This year, the Native Pathways Team, under the leadership of PJ Fosselman, created meaningful graduation medallions for the SDSU Native & Indigenous Graduation Ceremony. These medallions were not only a symbol of academic achievement but also a tribute to cultural heritage and traditional practices. Each one was carefully handcrafted using white sage bundles, respectfully gathered from plants personally harvested by the team. The use of white sage—a plant held sacred in many Indigenous communities—reflects a deep connection to the land, spirituality, and ancestral knowledge. Through this thoughtful process, the medallions became more than decorative items; they served as powerful expressions of identity, resilience, and community.
