Native Pathways will offer interactive demonstrations that bring to life the rich cultural tradition of acorn processing at the San Luis Rey Band Of Mission Indians, 25th Inter-Tribal Pow Wow on June 14 & 15.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage in each step of the process, from shelling and grinding the acorns using traditional tools like mortars and pestles.
These hands-on demonstrations not only teach practical skills but also share the cultural knowledge, stories, and significance behind this staple food that sustained Indigenous peoples for generations. It's a chance to connect with ancestral traditions, gain a deeper appreciation for Native ingenuity and resourcefulness, and honor the deep relationship between Indigenous communities and the land.
